Retail Theft
Retail Theft 720 ILCS 5/16A-3
Being charged with the crime of retail theft is a serious matter which can have far reaching effects on your life.  Not only do you face the possibility of jail time but also potential loss of job and difficulty obtaining future employment.  If you are not a citizen of the US, a plea or finding of guilty could possibly subject you to deportation.  Depending on the value of items involved and number of prior offenses you could be facing a Class A Misdemeanor or a more serious Felony charge.  Please see 720 ILCS 5/16A-3 for more information.  This is why it is very important to hire an attorney as soon as possible.  Depending on the County you were arrested in there may be a program available which would allow you to wipe the slate clean after completing the program (after which you can apply for an expungement).  If this is not available to you I will fight to keep you out of jail and still keep the charge off your permanent record.

Experience Matters
I have vast experience in the area of criminal defense.  Whether I am defending a misdemeanor violation or a serious felony offense, I will do everything possible to achieve the best possible result for my client.  The ultimate goal in every case I take on is to keep the charge of my client's permanent record if at all possible.  The sooner you contact me, the sooner I can preserve evidence that is routinely destroyed by most police departments within the first 30 days (booking room video, police dispatch recordings and any other audio or video recordings that may have been made routinely are destroyed after 30 days), which could ultimately impact whether you win or lose your case.  I will take a critical look at police conduct to make sure none of your constitutional rights were violated, and if they were, I will fight to get your case dismissed before a trial would even occur.
